Steve Blackman - Olympia's #1 fan!
Hi! I'm Steve Blackman, Olympia's #1 fan! I have followed this band since the very beginning. It was roughly 25 years ago when it all started. Jon and Barry were playing gigs in Lake City, MN under the name "The JonBerries". They were up in the twin cities one weekend and caught a show by a band called "The Dave Lehnen 16", they were blown away by his huge guitar (over 93 lbs.!). The rest is history. I have followed these guys around the country ever since. I saw their "Take back the night" charity concert for abused and homeless animals. I was even in the studio when they recorded the seminal 1976 LSD flavored jam-a-thon "Let's just sleep baby".

Why a fan information center?
Because the public demands it.

More Olympia Information
Olympia were born on a coop farm in Weaver Minnesota. Barry, Jon and Dave grew up together farming the cold unforgiving land of the midwest. Barry left for drumming school when he was 7, leaving Jon and Dave to man the family farm alone. Their Father, not biological, was a cold unforgiving man named Enos. When Barry left he took his grief out on Jon and Dave. Barry was his favorite. He often referred to Barry as "my little licorice stick". When Jon and Dave reached their 18th birthday's they ran away to Lake City, a small town filled with sin and waterskiing. The cold unforgiving waters of the Mississippi eventually drove the boys north. In the Twin Cities they happened upon Barry. He had run out of money for drumming school and was living on Arbys. It was in these cold and unforgiving times that Olympia was formed. Originally a jazz-fusion cover band, their sound rapidly mutated into its current form....
